Fly like a bird! France summer 2020
Updated: Aug 28, 2020
We are still in the Dordogne, Perigord Noir, making the most of the sun and the nature. Yesterday, there was a storm. As ever, the sky was overcast first, with a deep purple hue, swollen with rain. And the telltale sign, the electric light making the plants as golden as golden hour, nature bristling, awaiting something necessary. As the thunder rolled some distance away, I went out into the meadow to make the most of this special light. I took a fair few landscape shots which I hope to collect under a new section to my website: Objects & Places. Then at one point my son ran outside and climbed a tree wearing a bird mask. I took a few portraits of him there in the crook of branches. He really enjoys the old dead tree in the middle of the meadow, though how long it can bear his weight I cannot be sure. So here are my bird boy portraits in France. Some I've kept in colour but may go back and change into black & white portraits, as my favourites are the two in black & white so far. As ever, I am a total sucker for a gritty, atmospheric black and white image. One that's a keeper will have a storytelling aspect which enhances the mood of the moment. When I get back to Blackrock, Dublin, in a couple of weeks time, I'll be looking through them all and take more time over the best ones to edit. Here are some pretty much straight from the camera. To sunshine and rainstorms, and boys in bird masks! Contact me, as ever, for family and child photo shoots. Also, engagement, maternity, new baby, and debs. Or any other special occasion.
