Hi, I'm Cara - a Dublin Child Portrait Photographer, also capturing newborn and babies.
​
I love timeless black and white and vintage inspired colour to create heartfelt, timeless family and child portraits.
My child portraits are all natural light - in outdoor locations around Dublin or in your own home and garden. There are always lots of family milestones to photograph - from newborn first days, to baptism, communion, birthdays, Christmas - but many of my child portrait sessions are simply about capturing the simple everyday moments.
You can often find me in Blackrock, Ballsbridge, Booterstown, Dunlaoghaire, Monkstown and Dalkey - but I travel all over Dublin. I also offer local family sessions in my local area of Blackrock and Seapoint Beach.

Emotive Child Portraits from Simple Moments
​
I started photography as a hobby when my son was born. Whether it was trying to capture the garden hose flying out of his hands in our garden in Abu Dhabi, or just asleep clutching his teddy, I wanted to capture the joy, curiosity, and innocence of childhood.
​
I've always been inspired by films, books, paintings, and fairy tales.
​
On my Dublin family sessions, I'll be on the look out for interesting backdrops to frame child portraits - if we're outdoors, it just might be a beautiful tree, or if we're inside, a favourite chair can do the trick!
​
I'll be on the look out for the authentic expressions or gestures that come naturally to your child. Think of your daughter excitedly putting on her mermaid costume, or your son bending down to pick a flower.​ Family pets are a brilliant way to get children engaged - I love child portraits with dogs and other animals.

Family Portrait Session? Have Fun Along The Way!

Not all captivating family portraits are the ones where everyone is looking straight into the camera, smiling perfectly. Genuine joy comes across when children are engaged, curious, and lost in the moment. As well as more traditional portraits, I include unscripted documentary family photos, where I make the most of smiles, laughter, and, yes, the little grumpy faces too!
​
As well as photographing families, I am also doing couples, surprise proposals and small weddings, (and at these big family celebrations, there is usually plenty of opportunity for child and baby portraits.)
​

​A Little Word about Wardrobe
​
I give relaxed wardrobe tips for family photos. For outdoor locations, families can look great in rustic colours - brown, rust, beige, white, black, khaki, mustard, or, in complimentary colours of nature, for example, blue, green, brown. If you love a pop of bright colour, consider spreading that colour with other family members to create balance. Also, natural textures can look lovely - wool, suede, leather...(bring out the Aaran jumpers for Christmas and Winter sessions!)

The most important thing is to be comfortable! Being comfy allows you to relax and be fully in the moment. If it's an in home newborn session, for example, there is no need to dress up. I can touch up smears, scratches, stains and milk dribbles in Photoshop. I can even touch up make up and tired eyes!
