Hi, I'm Cara, a Dublin family photographer - also photographing couples in love, including engagements, surprise proposals and small weddings.
And what better location for a Surprise proposal then at Howth Cliff Top Loop. The panorama across the ocean towards Howth is a simply beautiful spot. Surrounded by heather with rocky ledges that look over the sea.
Below this lovely couple's Surprise Proposal (...and she did say YES!). This was a short 45 minute session but enough time for sea view photos and close ups of the couple.

What to Expect from your Howth Cliff Surprisal Proposal Dublin - with Cara.
I'll Capture the moment you go down on your knees - and all the moments afterwards.

The Howth Cliff Top Loop...about
Setting off from the pretty harbour village of Howth, the Cliff Tops explore some of Dublin’s most beautiful coastline on a 7.8km clifftop loop boasting idyllic island and lighthouse views.
The delightful Howth - Cliff Path Loop takes 2 hours to complete and starts from the village DART (train) station. The walk features rugged cliffs, vibrant heather, and coastal scenery.
My sessions start from 45 minutes to one hour, where I can meet you at the start of the trail. Hiking to Howth Head is also good for a longer photo session. Either way, the spectacular views start immediately on the trail.
A variety of different shots in your gallery.
Once the proposal is captured, we can spend some time capturing natural couples photos. I like to capture couples in the landscape as well as close up portraits of you both. Your expressions and gestures as you interact naturally with each other in the joyous, love filled moments after your proposal. I will mostly watch and react to you interacting naturally using a documentary photography style, as well as give a few prompts here and there for couples portraits - leading you towards pretty backdrops and light!

Suggestions for other couples proposal sessions
I will help you decide on a beautiful location for your proposal. Aside from Howth Cliff Top Loop, I can suggest locations across Dublin - coastal locations on the South and North side of the city, such as Sandy Cove & The Forty Foot, Dalkey Village, and Seapoint Beach. Also, beautiful gardens such as Malahide Castle Gardens and The National Botanical Gardens. As well as beautiful Dublin parks.

Tips to get ready for the proposal session
I always give simple wardrobe tips for my family sessions, including for my couples and proposal sessions. Obviously with a surprise proposal you are keeping this session as secretive as possible! With that said, I will give you simple tips: whether you want to keep your session super relaxed and casual, or dress up, the tips remain consistent. Avoid slogans and clashing colours or super bold patterns - to keep the focus on you as a couple, your expressions and gestures should be where the eye is drawn. As a couple it is good to co-ordinate in small ways, but there is no need to be totally matching. A small bunch of flowers can be a lovely focus point for the photos.
What to expect from your Couples gallery
You can expect a curated, edited gallery. Soft vintage inspired colours and classic black and white. There are 50-60 edited photos
