Spotlight on mums in family portraits Dublin!

Last week, a blog about the wonderful contribution dad's make to my photo shoots. How they are brilliant at relaxing the kids. Playing with them. Giving them attention.

And how (usually) they are natural & relaxed in front of the camera!

They tend to have a calming effect on my family photography sessions Dublin, both on location outdoors. Or at home on natural newborn sessions. Giving mum space to be with newborn babies, such as feeding them in the first weeks after birth. When there is barely time to drag a comb through your hair!

This week, the mums are getting the spotlight!

That said, women like to feel more than just a "mum"of course. This is the opportunity to shine as you are. Whether you are all dressed up. Or in your PJ's holding your newborn. I will chat to you before your family session, over email or phone, to see what you have in mind for your look n feel. Although I love to capture natural, authentic moments in my family sessions with a documentary feel, there is still time for classic portraits which show people off in the best possible light

(And literally, THE best possible light! )

I love to make sure I have found the best lighting conditions in your home if it's a natural newborn at home Dublin. Otherwise, I love end of day or morning light for my outdoor family photo shoots. Just when the light is mellow & the sun about to go down. That's such a flattering golden light!

When I am doing a natural newborn at home session, I like to photograph both the mums and dads alone with baby - along with both together. Also, with all the rest of the family. Siblings, of course. And furry family too. Pets are welcome on all my family photography sessions. I've said many times how amazing dogs are at bringing the best connection from their owners. Perfect for emotive family portraits!

I love to capture mothers with children at any age - from newborn to holding older children. I always say our kids are always our precious babies.

For the mums, there is the iconic mum holding baby pose that is always perfect

I like to get in close & show the mother-child bond. The expression & gesture of unconditional love. The best family portraits are all about the CONNECTION

I specialize in natural family portrait sessions in your own home. Often these are newborn sessions booked in the first 2-3 weeks of birth. For family sessions with lots of kids at different ages, I love to do outdoor sessions in Dublin.

I can't wait to share my Killiney Hill family photos that I took for an extended family a few weeks ago.

There were some precious moments taken with both dads & mums there. Lots of hugging & getting close in the frame for intimate family pictures & classic child portraits in nature. Nature is always the best backdrop in any season!

Now Spring is finally here I am taking bookings for Spring minis in my local area. Gardens and Seapoint beach at low tide is perfect for my 40 minute minis

And I am so excited about this because I think my lovely families will be happy to know they don't have to let any of the best moments go to waste. For an hour to one hour & twenty minute family or newborn photo shoot Dublin, that's usually around 70 edited pictures. For a mini, it's 30-40.

I always include classic black & white pictures in my galleries too. All my pictures from our time together are hand edited & retouched for blemishes
