Last week, a blog about the wonderful contribution dads make to my photo shoots. How they are brilliant at relaxing the kids. Playing with them. Giving them attention.
And how (usually) they are natural & relaxed in front of the camera! Well, why not, they are DADS after all!
Dads tend to have a calming effect on my family photography sessions Dublin, both on location outdoors. Or at home natural newborn photography sessions. Giving mum space to be with newborn babies. Especially breast feeding them in the first weeks after birth. When there is barely time to drag a comb through your hair!
This week, the MUMS are getting the spotlight!
(That said, women like to feel more than just a "mum"of course. )
This is the opportunity to shine as you are.

Although I love to capture natural, authentic moments in my family sessions with a documentary feel, there is still time for classic portraits which show people off in the best possible light
(And literally, THE best possible light!). I love to make the most of great natural light, in the great outdoors or at home. Making the most of rooms where the natural light is dramatic such as HERE at this at home newborn session in the heart of Dublin.
When I am doing a natural newborn at home session, I like to photograph both the mums and dads alone with baby - along with both parents together. Also, with all the rest of the family. Siblings, of course. And furry family too. Pets are welcome on all my family photography sessions. I've said many times how amazing dogs are at bringing the best connection from their owners. Perfect for emotive family portraits!
I love to capture mothers with children at any age - from newborn to holding older babies & children. I always say our kids are always our precious babies. Even when they are teenagers & adults!
For the mums, there is the iconic "mum holding baby" pose that is always perfect.
I like to get in close & show the mother-child bond. The expression & gesture of unconditional love. The best family portraits are all about the CONNECTION
I specialize in natural family & newborn portrait sessions in your own home. Often these are newborn sessions booked in the first 2-3 weeks of birth. For family sessions with lots of kids at different ages, I love to do outdoor sessions in Dublin as well, making the most of seasonal color & natural backdrops. There are lots of parks & gardens in Dublin that have a naturalistic feel...

Also I love the bond between mum & her baby son being baptized in a Greek Orthodox church in Stonybatter Dublin. As well as the joyous connection, the atmosphere of the church - color & golden lights - was AMAZING. For family portraits, the environment can make a mother-child portrait really tell an interesting story.
